Muhammad Akbar is a Bnadung based artist who’s works across an array of media, from video, moving image, digital imagery, to paper cutting. His artistic practice is based on the awareness of the self as viewed by others and as we view others, whilst embedded in our interchanging roles daily as both the spectacle and the spectator.
Akbar has a Bachelor in Education from the University Pendidikan Indonesia where he graduated in 2007, majoring in French language teaching. After this he continued to pursue a masters degree in Fine Arts at the Bandung Institute of Technology where he graduated in 2012. He has exhibited work and also has been selected to join residency programmes both nationally and internationally. In 2021 he participated at Makassar Bienale ‘Maritime Sekapur Sirih’ and ARTJOG MMXXI: Arts in Common - Time (to) Wonder at Jogja National Museum.
His main method of experimentation during his residency at Devfto was the photo intaglio method.
