Artist

Irene Febry (Bogor, 1989) is an Indonesian mixed-media artist currently based in bali. Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, Irene Febry is a mixed media artist working with recycled materials and found objects. Her interest in drawing, painting, stitching, and collage/assembling materials that she finds around her derives from a curiosity of how to create another way to look at these materials and objects, almost like giving them a second life.

Evolving, she began exploring and incorporating unconventional materials and techniques as a conceptual approach in giving them this new life. The details in Irene’s collages form an intimate experience between the observer and her work, taking us through the evolution of each substance by inviting us to look closer. At times, her artwork is purely abstract, whereas sometimes iit illustrates an idea in an abstract way. She finds great joy in observing things as if she's looking through a magnifying glass.

Irene has showcased her works in group exhibitions within South-East Asia including ‘Raga Rhythm’ (2020) by Wild Skids in Bali, Indonesia and ‘Transpaper’ (2012) in Singapore.
